По умолчанию 2012 Outlander GT S-AWC vs Nissan Murano 1st gen

Нашел неплохой отзыв человека, пересевшего на 2012 Outlander GT S-AWC с Nissan Murano первого поколения.

In summary I (we) really like the Outlander! It has everything we need and we hope it will be a great vehicle (only 1,100 miles so far). Our fingers are crossed on the reliability (since Mitsu isn't a major manufacturer it's hard to find unbiased reliability data), but their warranty is outstanding. We ended up paying $700 below invoice using Consumer's Checkbook CarBargains.

In more depth, we're a couple of 30-year-olds coming from a 1st generation Nissan Murano. The Murano is in a higher class than the Outlander so it's a bit of an unfair comparison, but in many ways they are similar (size, power, features, options). Plus I think it's good to compare up in order to recognize value. Although I list several shortcomings, understand I consider them to be minor.

What I miss about my old Murano:
High quality materials - Interior pieces felt more durable, plus I liked the thicker metal trim pieces and softer rubbery-plastic pieces throughout the cabin rather than the hard plastic found in the Outtie.
Quieter cabin - Wind noise is more pronounced in the Outtie. It's not noisy but at highway speeds you need to raise your voice above the wind - never had to do that with the Murano (probably because it was shaped like a jellybean)
Fold-flat seats - 'A' for creativity, 'D' for functionality. The weird sliding/folding/flipping/tumbling seats are overly complicated and just silly, taking up more space than they should when 'stowed'. I do miss the simple fold-flat seats of the Murano (a lot more usable cargo space). These seats also squeak when no one is sitting on them (an inherent design flaw -- too much play between the seat clamp and the floor bar -- I'll be adding squeak tape very soon)
No gimmicky 3rd row seat - Besides shoddy build quality of the 3rd Row (and lack of intuitive setup), this disclaimer from the manual sums it up pretty well: "Not for occupants over 63 inches in height... or children requiring child safety seats... serious injury or death may occur." Seriously?? In the US, anyone under 57 inches needs some sort of safety seat to safely ride in a vehicle. This is a marketing ploy at its best.
Lack of storage - Oddly, the top of the line trim has the least amount of storage compartments. The floor storage is occupied by the 3rd Row mess and the sub woofer takes the space of the side storage. Another reason the 3rd Row should be optional.
Dual-Memory driver seat, mirrors and pedals - That feature was such a gem. The seats, mirrors and pedals moved into user preset positions dependent on which FAST key opened the door. With a height difference between my girlfriend and me of over a foot, this feature made it quick and easy to share the vehicle.
Dual climate control - Auto climate control is nice on the Outtie but having totally seperate climate settings for the driver and front passenger just makes sense.

What I like about the V6 Outlander GT:
6-speed transmission - Quick, smooth and sporty. Boy, I couldn't run away fast enough from a CVT!! It always felt sluggish, preferring to keep the engine at low RPMs at all times. When you needed oomph you really had to mash the throttle, making the engine roar while it wound up and slingshot forward (very similar to turbo lag). IMO, CVT's really suck the life out of the engine and overall "fun factor" of a vehicle. I'm also hoping I don't have to replace the tranny and transfer case at 35K miles like I did in the Murano-- unacceptable.
Tight suspension - Along with the V6 and responsive transmission with paddle shifters, the suspension completes the overall sporty feel of the Outtie. It corners like a car. Amazingly, the stiff suspension absorbs shocks better than the less sporty suspension of the Murano. Go figure.
Rockford Fosgate sound system - Absolutely blows away systems in comparable SUVs (I compared it to Toyota Highlander & RAV-4, Honda Pilot & CR-V, Hyundai Santa Fe & Tucson). The RF has serious punch while maintaining mid and high frequency clarity. The MMCS usability could be better, but you forgive it when you think about all of the stuff it's controlling.
Rear seat - Even with the front seats backed up fully, there is some serious knee room in the rear. On the floor, I wish the hump in the middle was completely flat like other vehicles.
Folding tailgate - I was indifferent to this feature at the time of purchase but it has since grown on me. It provides a solid place to rest items and a great seat when tailgating.
Styling - Overall, very unique and attractive. Aggressive front end (much like an Audi Q) is a real eye catcher. My only concern is that someone will bump into me in a parking lot and crunch the grille -- it really doesn't have a front bumper for protection. Although the interior feels somewhat cheap, it at least looks clean and classy!
Fuse - This is an absolute must-have accessory (which is probably the reason it isn't free anymore). This truly future-proofs the Outtie. I knew I could play music that was saved locally on my smartphone but I was pleasantly surprised when I realized I could also livestream things like Pandora with my smartphone and then Bluetooth it into the RF. Who needs satellite radio when you have a smartphone with Bluetooth?
Other things I like (in no particular order); paddle shifters, auto-wipers, GPS with real-time traffic (very accurate), heated seats (heat quickly), seats (firm but comfortable, hugs you better than most), exhaust sound (subtle, low frequency rumble).

We haven't had any snow yet so I've yet to use the S-AWC. Having an active front differential is a big improvement over the flimsy AWD the Murano had. The only thing it did well was leak oil.
